The Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 is the standard workhorse for wedding, event, and landscape photographers in the Nikon world. It’s fast, sharp, and durable. It simply can’t be beat. There are a couple other lenses to consider:
- Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 VC. Less expensive and the image stabilization will help in low-light. However, it has worse bokeh, poor build quality, less sharpness, and severe focus breathing.
- Sigma 24-105 f/4. One stop slower, so you’ll have to use a stop higher ISO in low light, which makes it less effective for churches, events, and wedding receptions. However, we love the extra zoom range, especially for travel shooting and landscapes.
