Chinese lens manufacturer YongNuo has created a clone of the previous generaton of Canon’s 50mm f/1.8. Overall, it’s not a great lens, though it does have nicer bokeh than the Canon’s. The image quality was worse, it’s loud, and the focus accuracy is simply appalling. We think the biggest part of the problem is the quality assurance. YongNuo is new to manufacturing lenses, and we think they might have problems creating consistent, high-quality products. As a result, you might get a better copy of the YongNuo than we did. Regardless, we can’t recommend it to most buyers.
