Nikon 24-70 f/2.8The Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 is the standard workhorse for wedding, event, and landscape photographers in the Nikon world. It’s fast, sharp, and durable. It simply can’t be beat. There are a couple other lenses to consider:

  • Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 VC. Less expensive and the image stabilization will help in low-light. However, it has worse bokeh, poor build quality, less sharpness, and severe focus breathing.
  • Sigma 24-105 f/4. One stop slower, so you’ll have to use a stop higher ISO in low light, which makes it less effective for churches, events, and wedding receptions. However, we love the extra zoom range, especially for travel shooting and landscapes.

Check our Tamron review for a comparison of the sharpness with this lens.
