Touch screens allow you to navigate menus by touching the screen, just like you would on your smartphone. Touch screens are particularly useful for choosing an off-center focus point and for quickly zooming in to check focus while reviewing pictures. A touch screen is a nice feature, and it can definitely improve your workflow. Hand a camera without a touchscreen to anyone under 25, and you’ll see him or her poke at the screen; younger people assume everything should have a touch screen. And they should—touch screens are wonderful. You definitely can live without a touchscreen, however, and if you want a professional-level camera, you’ll have to.
